Description
I studied as a painting major at the Montreal Museum School of Fine Art, receiving my fine arts diploma. I taught painting at Pakaranga Junior College in Auckland, New Zealand.
Then I went to Kent State University in Ohio, and received my B.F.A., with honours, with my major in enamels and a minor in metal smithing. On returning to Canada, I did two years at Sheridan College, rounding out my basic training in metals.
I spent two years in the metal studio at Harbourfront, and have had a working studio since that time. I have taken many courses since finishing my degree, including colour studies and drawing and other courses at Stanford University, California.
I have had work in Ontario Craft Magazine, Ornament Magazine, and am included in the book “Ornament and Object, Canadian Jewellery and Metal Art”. My work is in collections in Canada, Europe, New Zealand, and the United States. I have had my work in shows across Canada and the United States.
Stone carving is relatively new to me, but is a meditative process that I really enjoy. As I have been cutting stone for jewellery, it just seemed a natural progression.
My influences come from the living world I live in.
