The Arts Alive Kenneth R. Harrison Award for Youth Mentorship
recognizes an individual that works extensively with Halton Hills youth acting as a mentor and/or role model for artistic, cultural and/or heritage endeavours. The Award, this year, is presented to Lois Fraser.
Lois Fraser co-founded the Georgetown Children's Chorus in 1992 with Dale Woods and has continued volunteering there for 22 years including organizing and leading many international trips. In 2009 Lois spearheaded the launch of Globe's Youth Group giving children aged 8-12 a chance to learn Musical Theatre skills. For the past 32 years Louis has been on the John Elliot Scholarship Committee, the President of Globe Productions for the past 6 and is past president of the Arts Alive committee. It is most appropriate that Lois win the Ken Harrison Award for Youth Mentorship as he was her voice teacher for many years and she has continued his enthusiasm for inspiring young people through music. Lois is a force to be reckoned with and our community is lucky to have her.
